Authentic Brands Group has appointed Victor Fonseca as senior vice president and head of Brazil, the global brand and entertainment company announced.
Fonseca will lead Authentic’s business in Brazil, where he will identify and develop growth opportunities across the company’s portfolio of sports, lifestyle, and entertainment intellectual property.
His focus will include licensing, retail, and commercial partnerships intended to expand brand presence, strengthen existing relationships, and drive long-term growth in the market, the company said.
More than 14 brands from Authentic’s portfolio are represented in Brazil, including Reebok, Quiksilver, Champion, Nautica, Prince, and Elvis Presley. The brands are supported by more than 24 partners, among them Save Comercial e Importadora for Reebok, Surf Co. for Volcom, and TRM for Nautica. They reach consumers through more than 50 monobranded stores, 11 e-commerce sites, and more than 5,000 points of sale across the country.
Authentic said it sees opportunities to accelerate growth in Brazil by introducing more of its brands to the market, expanding existing ones, and making greater use of live events and experiences through Authentic Live. Brazil has the largest consumer market in South America.
“Authentic’s platform offers a significant opportunity to build on the connection its brands already have with audiences in Brazil,” Fonseca said. “I look forward to working with the team and our partners to expand that presence through locally relevant products, retail and experiences, while creating new opportunities for long-term growth.”
Fonseca has more than two decades of experience in licensing, consumer products, sales, and brand management in Brazil and international markets. He joins Authentic from Paramount, where he was vice president of licensing for Latin America.
Fonseca previously led Hasbro’s Latin America consumer products business and held commercial leadership roles at Samsonite Brasil and Alpargatas.
During nearly 14 years at Alpargatas, he helped expand Havaianas in international markets and oversaw its direct retail channels, including owned stores, franchises, and e-commerce.
“Victor brings a valuable combination of entertainment licensing expertise, commercial leadership, and deep knowledge of the Brazilian market,” said John McNamara, chief transition officer and president of international at Authentic. “He understands how to translate the strength of global brands into local opportunities and will help us deepen existing partnerships, expand our reach and accelerate growth in Brazil.”
Authentic said the appointment underscores its commitment to growth in key Latin American markets, with Brazil a strategic priority. The company said strengthening its leadership there will support its broader regional ambitions.
Authentic owns and invests in intellectual property and cultural assets. The company said it works with a network of more than 1,700 licensees and strategic partners in 150 countries, and that its brands generate more than $38 billion in annual systemwide sales worldwide.
