BLUE MONKS LEADER:  An elderly ORIENTAL monk, a wise-man, thin, not very tall, white hair and beard, olive complexion.   Like the other monks, he wears a light blue or navy tunic and a kind of cloak.  The blue monks, worshippers of Vishnu, have always been the custodians of the FLAWLESS SWORD (NANDAKA).

BANDAR/ARUNA, the PIRATE:  Young INDIAN prince in his twenties, tall and thin, dark hair and eyes, olive complexion, hair down to his shoulders, very handsome, elegant.  The son of the CUSTODIAN OF THE DAGGER, becomes a pirate in order to fight Narkodam, his father’s usurpator.

NARKODAM:  Young INDIAN, not very tall, with a prominent abdomen, reddish beard and moustache, dark eyes, a kind of hysterical madman.  The son of Malyssa, the usurpator of Bandar’s father.

MALYSSA:  INDIAN woman in her fifties, a kind of “witch”, thin, wrinkled, heavily made up eyes and lips.  Narkodam’s mother, Sandokan’s first adventure, recovery of the dagger.

FOSTER MOTHER AMARI:  INDIAN woman in her seventies, long grey hair gathered into a bun, corpulent, round face, maternal aspect.

KIM:  INDIAN boy around eight years of age, short black hair, dark eyes, olive complexion, he’s a pearl fisherman.

HAZRA:  INDIAN man in his fifties, plump, with a beard, prominent nose, turban, wears a large ring that he turns round and round his finger.

NEPALESE SHERPA:  Elderly man, MONGOLIAN, sturdy, thickset, with a short grey beard.  Character during the adventure in Nepal, he leads Sandokan to the recovery of the Dagger.

ARSUM the FALCONER:  Young man, MONGOLIAN, thin, mean eyes, aquiline nose.  Antagonist during the adventure in Nepal, possessed by the demon.

NEPALESE HERMIT MONK:  MONGOLIAN monk, very old, thin, initially he has bushy grey hair and a very long beard, then his head and face are clean-shaven, wears a dark orange tunic.  Character during the adventure in Nepal, Sandokan finds him asleep in a cave; he shows him the place where the Dagger is hidden, the Cathedral of Ice.

TURGUT MOUNTAINEERS:  Stocky MONGOLIANS, long hair, long beards, dirty and wild.  Fierce-looking savages living in the mountains, they win the Dagger from Yanez and Morugan in a game called Turgut.

SIKKIM:  Young INDIAN in his thirties, thin, dark-skinned, dark eyes, wears a tattered uniform and beret from the British Army. Character during the adventure in Bhutan where the Demon possesses Singa, priest of the Sithai, in order to get his hands on the Dagger.

MATAN (leader of the Buthai:  MONGOLIAN man in his forties, black hair, dark eyes, a good-natured fellow with a prominent belly.

URLAG (leader of the Sithai): MONGOLIAN man in his forties, tall, robust, black hair gathered into a pigtail, Mongolian-style moustache.

SINGA:  ORIENTAL priest, bald, all skin and bones, olive complexion, he wears a yellow tunic and an emerald hangs from around his neck.

XI XI: CHINESE woman in her sixties, fat, hair dyed red, elaborate hairdo, small mouth with shiny red lipstick.  She’s the Emperor’s widow.  Widow of the Chinese emperor.  Character during the adventure in China, the Emperor was the custodian of the second segment of the Nandaka, the dagger.

PRINCE ZHAO:  CHINESE prince, of MONGOLIAN aspect, in his twenties, loose long black hair, thin Mongolian-style moustache, very handsome, DRESSES IN LIGHT BLUE.  Son of the Chinese emperor.

PRINCE SUNG:  CHINESE Prince around 18 years of age, bobbed black hair with bangs, brown eyes, DRESSES IN YELLOW.  Son of the Chinese emperor.

EMPEROR LAO:  CHINESE prince around 25 years of age, short black hair, dark eyes, DRESSES IN RED.  Son of the Chinese emperor.

LOBO HAI:  CHINESE Prime Minister in his sixties, a thin fellow, hunch-backed, long grey pigtail, long grey Chinese-style moustache and beard, DRESSES IN BLACK AND GREY.  Chinese Prime Minister, sows discord among the late-Emperor’s three sons in order to gain power for himself.

JADE FOX:  CHINESE woman in her twenties, VERY BEAUTIFUL, almond-shaped eyes, high cheekbones, long black hair done up in an elaborate hairdo, drop earrings, jewels, DRESSES IN BLACK AND RED, often wears hat with black veil.  Tall and thin, but with an ample bust  Ex-convict, in the service of the Chinese Prime Minister, possessed by the Demon.

NAGA, KING OF THE SNAKES: INDIAN MAN, about 30/40 years old, black hair gathered in a short pigtail, dark eyes, beard, thickset, robust, dresses in snakeskin, wide bracelet made of snakeskin.  Character who leads Sandokan to recover the DAGGER, snake and crocodile hunter.

COLONEL STONES:  BRITISH elderly MAN in his sixties, grey hair, beard and moustache, tall and robust.  British colonel, protagonist of the adventure in which the demon tries to possess the Dagger in the hands of Tukamao.

LIEUTENANT JONES:  Young BRITISH MAN, in his thirties, tall and thin, short blonde hair, blonde moustache.

TUKAMAO:  ORIENTAL man, almond-shaped eyes, black moustache and goatee, scarred face, earring in right earlobe, not very tall but thickset, muscular build, long black hair gathered into a ponytail, dresses in black and yellow.  Leader of a gang called the Yellow Martens, of which Iron Hand (ex-James Brook and ex-White Rajah) is a member.

YELLOW MARTENS:  ORIENTAL MEN with almond-shaped eyes, long black hair gathered in ponytails, dress in black and yellow.

IRON HAND:  He is the White Rajah without the mask, his face furrowed with horrible scars, grey hair, wears black clothes, has a stump mounted by a knife blade instead of his right hand. 

BABAR:  YOUNG INDIAN MAN, in his thirties, short and thickset with black hair and a short beard, potbellied, a good-natured fellow, one tooth missing.  Character during the adventure in the Jungle in search of the underground city, lends his hot air balloon to Sandokan.<

ARCHIBALD LESTER: ELDERLY BRITISH archaeologist, grey hair and short beard, blue eyes, eyeglasses, wears a bush jacket.  Archaeologist who leads Sandokan to the City of the Dead, where he recovers the third segment of the Nandaka sword.

PRETHA: ORIENTAL MEN with faces and bodies painted in white, tall, thin, shining green eyes, they wear a crown of little skulls around their necks.  Characters from the City of the Dead.
