THE NIMBOLS
Episode 1— “Lights! Camera! Action!”
The
Nimbols are filming a video about the Space Academy designed to lure potential
students to the school. Urp and Ulee have a hard time taking the project
seriously, so after they mess up a few scenes, Producer Blip tells them
to go make their own video.
Still, with Neema and Oona quibbling over direction and the script, not
to mention clumsy actors and Arfle’s pesky distractions, the filming
is not going too well. However, while they are trying to create a straight
and proper portrayal of the Academy, showing how a good student lives and
obeys the rules, Ulee and Urp’s film is showing everything that isn’t
allowed. When the video is screened that night at the theater it turns out
to be a smashing success, thanks to the way Blip diplomaticly edits some
of Urp and Ulee’s footage…
Episode 2— “A Friend in Need”
Urp is the only Nimbol that hasn’t passed his personality test. In fact, Benedikt explains that because he has no self-esteem, he has no personality at all. While crossing the street Urp is almost run over by the cute Cyborg Six and it is love at first sight. Suddenly Urp is a completely different Nimbol. He is polite and responsible and Six even asks him out on a date. Ulee, however, doesn’t trust the Cyborg girl but goes along to help his nervous friend. His suspicions prove themselves out when the two Nimbols go to Six’s junkyard home for dinner and discover that on the date Urp and his dragster were used for a robbery getaway! Back at the Space Academy the two unwitting accomplices, together with Blip and Neema, come up with a plan to turn the tables on the devious Cyborgs…
Episode 3 — “The Urps”
Although it’s his birthday, Blip is sad because it was on this day that his parents had disappeared in space. The robots that were left to care for him, though, tell him of a surprise gift. Urp starts talking about how great his family is; how they are rich and practically run their planet. Benedikt is thrilled to hear it, because he has just gotten word that Urp’s parents and sister are coming for a surprise visit and he has visions of a donation for a brand new sports complex. Urp, embarrassed by his exaggerations, runs away to hide. The Nimbols are forced to entertain the uncultured family while Blip searches for Urp, but it turns out that although they are not rich or sophisticated, they are still pretty cool. Then Blip’s surprise birthday gift arrives; it’s a delayed message from his parents…
Episode 4 — “Rescue Mission”
This time it’s Ulee’s dog Arfle that causes big trouble. While the robot tutor Benedikt is trying to give his disorderly five Nimbol students a lecture, Arfle saunters out to the street to find a tree… and finds himself the cause of an accident for Hari, the talkative taxi. The irritable Traffic Cop is immediately hovering over the scene demanding explanations, but Ulee, nervous and scared, remains silent. As a result of Hari’s long list of demerits, Traffic Cop zooms him off to the junkyard to suffer dismantling at the greedy hands of the part-thirsty Cyborgs. Aware of his guilt and wanting to save his friend from a terrible fate, Ulee, aided by Blip, Neema and Urp, responsibly braves the terror of the Cyborg- infested junkyard to rescue Hari.
Episode 5 — “Testing Time”
Neema, Ulee and Blip have already passed the tests for their spaceship flying licenses, but Urp is having trouble with the theory exam and Oona has only one last chance to pass her test. Worried that their team might be broken up, the three try to find a solution. With Urp it’s easy… all he'll need to do is simply pick the answer that goes exactly against his reckless driving instincts. A solution for Oona appears when Slick brags that he has an advanced autopilot program. When Ulee and Blip are unable to get the program, Blip installs a fake one in Oona’s spaceship just to boost her confidence. While Oona learns what she is really capable of, Slick learns the hard way that cheating is the wrong way to go.
Episode 6 — “The Mass Transporter”
After getting caught in a maddening traffic jam aboard his jet-propelled skateboard, Ulee, with Urp’s unknowing help, comes up with the brilliant idea of inventing a mass transporter. A device which could make matter, or Nimbols, disappear from one place and be digitally recreated somewhere else. With Blip’s expertise, they build one and it works fine… at least with Lari the Litter Bin, a machine. When Urp, half dazed from sleep, wanders into one of the two transport devices, they have their Nimbol guinea pig. Unfortunately, Urp reappears in the second transport unit with his feet on backwards! From that point on, the situation only gets worse… until Blip is able to figure out a way to get everything all straightened out.
Episode 7 — “A Living Doll”
After watching Mighty Meg easily defeat a group of Cyborgs on the wall computer, Ulee, Blip and Urp all fall in love with the attractive superhero. When they hear that she is making a special appearance at City Hall, they sneak in through a back gate… just in time to see the weakened Mighty Meg being kidnapped! The three infatuated Nimbols are able to perform a valiant rescue and spirit their grateful idol away to safety. Feeling courageous in the company of their heroine, the Nimbols decide to hide her in the Cyborgs’ junkyard lair. However, she is too weak to fend off the attacking Cyborgs and only the sudden arrival of Professor Snork saves them. Now it’s time for the Professor to reveal to the Nimbols the astonishing secret of Mighty Meg…
Episode 8— “The Hot Shot”
Ulee is determined to beat Slick’s record for the rocket-powered skateboard course, and with the help of Oona’s training techniques, he should have no problem at all. Urp is so convinced of his friend’s winning that he bets Slick his entire savings. Slick, now having a lot at stake, is not going to take any chances, so he zaps Ulee with a disorienting aura ray gun while he sleeps. The next day at the race, Ulee can hardly stand on his skateboard and he loses. When Neema and Blip learn of Urp’s bet with Slick, they force Eye to talk. As it turns out, it wasn’t only the aura ray gun that helped him win; he was also illegally using neutron-boosted skateboard fuel. Oona organizes a rematch, and this time, with her help in concentration techniques and Urp’s help in altering the fuel, Ulee skateboards to a new course record.
Episode 9 – “The Party”
Benedikt is leaving for the night and the Nimbols have secretly planned a party. Their excitement at having a wild night alone quickly fades when they learn that Oona, who is a party pooper anyway, has been left in charge to supervise them. They are cleverly able to fool her into going to the study group that she would have missed, so the party is on. It is supposed to be just for friends, but Urp, like always, manages to mess things up. Not only does he allow Slick to trick him into revealing the password that opens up Door; he also invites all the Cyborgs! Just when the party is in full swing, Traffic Cop suddenly appears, angrily responding to complaints of noise pollution. The Nimbols are terrified that this time they’ve gone too far, but a special guest saves the day…
Episode 10— “Mirror Image”
The Nimbols go to the campus amphitheater where The Great Wambini is performing his spectacular magic show. His grand finale is teleportation and Ulee becomes an accidental volunteer after his rocket-powered skateboard is bumped from behind and he tumbles onto the stage. Entering one enclosure, Ulee then magically appears in the other… but from the first enclosure out steps another Ulee as well. Now there are two! Dumbfounded, the other Nimbols try to determine which is the real Ulee, but they are exactly identical. Blip begins to suspect an alien invasion. The mystery is finally solved when Door announces the arrival of not one, but two Great Wambinis, accompanied by a complete set of identical Nimbols including Benedikt and Arfle… from a mirror universe!
Episode 11 — “The Dating Game”
The school dance is approaching and the Nimbols are all scrambling for their dates. The problem is that Neema and Oona are having a major fight about who gets to ask Blip, while Urp and Ulee are in heavy competition for Glick. In letters to Blip Neema takes the romantic approach, while Oona, being the logical Nimbol that she is, relates why he owes her this date. Urp and Ulee, on the other hand, are fighting it out on the streets with their vehicles. After trying to impress Glick with their driving skills and both bombing out, they decide to settle it with a race. After wreaking havoc among both vehicles and pedestrians alike, they wind up getting their vehicles impounded by Traffic Cop. All four could have saved themselves a lot of trouble, because Glick already has a date… as does Blip.
Episode 12— “Window on the World”
The Solar System Web is running an ad for a free device that changes the view through any window into a number of beautiful landscapes. Ulee then purchases the device. The next morning the Nimbols awake to find that everything in the bungalow, including Arfle, is gone! When they check the device, they see that it has a secret function. Before they can reverse the current flow, however, they are sucked out of the window and transported in a huge bubble to a waiting spaceship. Once in the cargo hold, the Nimbols find themselves surrounded with merchandise from all over the city. It looks like they weren’t the only ones to fall for the scam. The ship takes off. Ulee, who had gotten them into this mess, now gets them out… by giving the burglars a taste of their own medicine.
Episode 13 — “Billionaire Quiz”
Brainy Oona has only one more question to correctly answer tomorrow before she wins on the Billionaire Quiz show. Blip, Urp and Ulee are falling over themselves in their haste to get on her good side and get a piece of her Billion Space Credit prize. Then a malfunctioning bookcase conks Oona on the head, leaving her completely spaced out. In a panic, Blip invents a Brain Enhancer designed to realign the brain’s neurons. However, when Ulee aims the beam at Oona, Urp’s head gets in the way. All is still not lost, because now Urp is the genius and Oona can use him as her Joker. The only problem is that Urp is TOO smart and is taking too long to answer the question. Oona returns to her normal self, taking over for Urp, but it doesn’t take a genius to realize that using a Brain Enhancer is against the rules.
Episode 14 — “Kidnapped”
The Nimbols are shocked to discover that the Cyborg Six will be visiting them as part of a new student exchange project. Aside from Urp, who thinks that she is really cute, the rest find it extremely difficult to trust a Cyborg. Urp is then really disappointed to find that Six is far more interested in Blip than in him. Six gets Blip to let her pilot the school space ship… which she zooms directly toward the Cyborgs’ junkyard. Blip is kidnapped! They force him to build a laser gun with which to cut into the bank vault by telling him that they are holding Neema hostage. Urp and Ulee find Blip at the junkyard and after Blip learns that Neema is safe at the Academy, he sends the two off to warn Traffic Cop about the holdup. The Cyborgs are arrested, but Benedikt has other plans for Six…
Episode 15— “Traffic Light Rebellion”
The Traffic Lights are getting testy, making Urp and Ulee late for class on purpose. To get around the problem, Ulee asks Blip to invent a remote control zapper to change the lights to green. The Traffic Lights, angry at the manipulation and feeling that they are getting no respect, begin to plot their revenge. They appear green in both directions, which of course causes major traffic problems. Then, when Traffic Cop hauls the two rule-breaking Traffic Lights away to jail, all the others rebel and decide to go on strike. The Nimbols are forced to do Traffic Light duty, which turns out to be a major disaster. With all the Traffic Lights now planning on a permanent strike and the streets of the planet descending into chaos, the Nimbols must convince them how necessary they really are.
Episode 16— “Black Hole”
Neema and Oona are hoping to be voted Space Cadets of the Month and the first task on their list is spring-cleaning. Unfortunately, their idea of junk is a lot different than Blip’s, so he is really angry to find that they’ve thrown away a lot of his cool stuff. Urp is also upset to find all of his filth cleaned up. The guys plan their revenge. THEY will be the Space Cadets of the Month. Instead of waddling around with feather dusters and feeling like fools though, Urp and Ulee count on Blip to invent something. He creates a Black Hole, into which they can simply toss all the trash. It works at first, but quickly gets out of hand and starts gobbling up everything in sight. Luckily, Blip had given the Black Hole a limited amount of energy, but now it spits everything back out, creating a huge, disorderly mess.
Episode 17 — “The Night of Full Moons”
It’s that time once every ten years when the three moons orbiting the planet Traffix are all simultaneously full and Arfle is going crazy. Benedikt has strictly forbidden the Nimbols to go out this night because of the moons’ hypnotizing effect, but when their pet Arfle runs away, they risk Benedikt’s anger to go searching for their pet. Slick and Eye hear that Ulee is offering a reward for finding Arfle, so they hatch a fake kidnapping plot to collect a ransom. Oona, however, learns that all the Arfles of a certain age go into heat and meet up on this night of the full moons… at the home of the Cyborgs, the junkyard. In the end the Nimbols are reunited with their beloved pet and Slick and Eye, who were hoping to collect a ransom, will wind up with a very different kind of bounty…
Episode 18 — “The Accident”
Somebody has tampered with the brakes on Urp’s dragster, landing both he and Ulee in the hospital. At the same time, a trophy has been stolen from the Space Academy. Oona, Blip and Neema become detectives, sifting through Lari the Litter Bin for evidence and even braving the junkyard to confront the Cyborgs. Oona, with Lari’s help, finds the trophy hidden in some bushes and sets an ambush for the thief. The trap works and they snare Willowbee, a crazy tutor that had been expelled from the Academy for sabotaging a school space ship. Further proof comes from the falsely accused Cyborgs who want to clear their name. It was Willowbee that had sold them those brake parts. The mad robot wanted revenge, but thanks to the Nimbols, Lari the Litter Bin and the Cyborgs, the case is solved.
Episode 19— “A Big Success”
Oona isn’t at all thrilled to have Urp and Ulee as her science project partners until Urp tells her about Slopweed, a common plant on his home planet that sounds perfect for an environment-friendly fuel. Meanwhile, Neema and Blip are working on their project, a vehicle-mounted motion detector that would prevent accidents. Slick and Eye, needing a project of their own, send the devious Glick to sweet-talk Blip and to spy on him. Neema attempts to warn Blip, but she becomes irritated and jealous when he seems to enjoy Glick’s “interest” in science. Oona, Urp and Ulee have converted the Slopweed into fuel, which wins them an award. Blip and Oona, having been distracted, are not yet finished but they are still able to enjoy the surprise project that Blip had created for Glick…
Episode 20 — “Freedom at Last”
After losing his patience, Urp guns his dragster through a red light. He later arrives back at the Academy, towed by Traffic Cop, with a long list of violations now on his record. Traffic Cop harshly scolds Benedikt for Urp’s behavior and authorizes a Home Tutor replacement investigation. This is too much for Benedikt, who has a chip overload and goes wildly berserk. All the Nimbols are still on probation so they have to get Urp out of trouble. He just needs to pass a driving test, which means they’ve got to get Benedikt fixed. In the meantime they resort to some old-fashioned, punishment-oriented coaching to get Urp ready. After a harrowing experience with a replacement robot tutor equipped with an emotion chip, the Nimbols manage to get Benedikt back. Now if only Urp can pass his test…
Episode 21 — “Beyond Music”
The Space Academy is holding a competition to come up with a new song for the school anthem. Under Oona’s guidance the Nimbols are off to a good start until Neema is kicked out of the band as a result of an “artistic” disagreement. Then, when Urp’s drum set and Ulee’s guitar are partially destroyed after falling off their vehicles’ unsecured luggage racks, Oona is anyway forced to come up with a different sound. The only problem is that Slick and Eye have used Arfle to secretly record the Nimbols’ song and have arranged to be the first to perform it. Oona is horrified to hear them playing her music, but Neema comes to the rescue with the original song they had planned. Both bands have been awarded a perfect ten by the jury; now it’s up to Arfle to even the score…
Episode 22— “All You Can Eat” (Part 1)
Urp and Ulee decide to skip school in favor of being first at the ice cream parlor for All You Can Eat Day. They zoom carelessly through the traffic in their rush, causing pedestrians to frantically scamper out of the way to safety. After swelling up their bellies with numerous bowls of ice cream, they are enticed into one last bowl… the house specialty…which in no time flat causes them to shrink to a height of 20 centimeters! Getting back to their normal size is not their only problem; they also have to get back home! With all the traffic on the road, and as small as they are, the trip back to their bungalow becomes a scary and illuminating exercise in survival.
Episode 23— “All You Can Eat” (Part 2)
It’s now the next morning, and although Ulee and Urp have regained their normal Nimbol size, Blip, Oona and Neema are now the tiny ones! Realizing that the three had also eaten the house specialty at the ice cream parlor the afternoon before, the group quickly suspects a diabolical plot by the Cyborgs working there. When their suspicions are confirmed by a news bulletin detailing the arrest of the parlor owners and the new Cyborg management, Ulee and Urp herd their three miniature friends safely toward the ice cream parlor in a determined bid to collect evidence.
Episode 24— “It’s Show Time”
The Traffic Cops are making maintenance checks on all the vehicles and Urp’s dragster is impounded because its lights are broken. To make matters worse, if he doesn’t come up with the 450 Space Credit fine by tonight, his beloved dragster will be crushed! It’s also Parent’s Day at the Space Academy and all the Nimbol teams are preparing their presentations. Our Nimbol team, calling themselves the Flying Nimbols, is practicing a trampoline act. They need Urp, but when they refuse to pay him the Credits that he needs to rescue his dragster, he instead joins up with Slick and Eye… who will pay him to lose their Nimbol Tossing con game. As always, Slick and Eye fall prey to their own greed, which ends up saving the dragster while Urp bounces his way back into the hearts of his friends.
Episode 25 — “Up in the Air”
A dangerous magnetic storm is about to hit Traffix, but Urp, whose birthday is today, defies Benedikt’s orders not to leave the bungalow and heads towards the Fun Park. Neema, Blip and Ulee are forced to go after their disobedient friend and they all find themselves floating through the air, caught in the storm’s devastating anti-gravity effects. Urp’s parents have arrived for a surprise birthday visit and now Benedikt and Traffic Cop go out in search of Urp and the others. Benedikt, being made of metal, is sucked through the air into the magnetized junkyard, as is Lari the Litter Bin, numerous vehicles, and everything else metallic. The Cyborgs are ecstatic, for after the storm is over, they'll be able to return to their junkyard home and enjoy being rich! The Nimbols, with the help of Urp’s dad, must then rescue their beloved mentor…
Episode 26— “Nimbol Day”
It’s Nimbol Day on Traffix and our group is busily cleaning up and making preparations for the most anticipated day of the year. This year they are hoping for even bigger presents than last year from Hari, Lari, Traffic Cop and Benedikt. However, they are heavily disappointed to find that the only gifts they have received are those that they’ve given each other… and these ones aren’t terribly exciting at all. Feeling gloomy and depressed, they barely muster the energy to board the school’s spaceship for the annual "surprise" picnic. Once onboard and underway though, they learn that sometimes even the most boring gift can be the key to the greatest surprise!
