MONDO TV GROUP PRESS RELEASE: the successful cartoon serie "Angel's Friends" becomes a movie.

Consolidated financial data:

  • value of production to more than 10 million euro (+130% compared to 2008)

  • EBITDA at more than 2 million euro (-2 million in 2008)

  • Profit before taxes for nearly about 1.2 million euro (-8 million in 2008)

Results improved even compared to the previous preliminary results in August 2009.

The Board of Directors of Mondo TV S.p.A. has examined today the preliminary consolidated and parent company financial data for the year 2009, which show a significant increase if compared both to 2008 and to the estimates already provided in August 2009, thanks to the positive sales result achieved by the parent company - especially in 4Q 2009 - regarding both the old library and TV series Angel's Friends’ licensing rights.

Preliminary results has been prepared through the fully consolidation of entertainment sector’s companies (Mondo TV, Mondo France, MIM - Mondo Igel Media, Mondo TV Kids, Mondo TV Spain, Doro TV Merchandising, Mondo Distribution and Mondo Licensing), while no longer considers in the perimeter Mondo HE Group, whose participation has been fully sold during 2009.

Preliminary consolidated results for the year 2009

Entering the analysis of 2009 results, the consolidated value of production (equal to the sum of revenues, variations of works in progress and the capitalization of the animated series created internally) should exceed 10 million euro, increasing if compared to 2008 (about +130%) and to estimations already given in August 2009 (about 8 million euro).

Group’s EBITDA is expected to exceed 2 million euro compared to a negative value of about 2 million in 2008; today estimations are better than those of August 2009 (1.2 million).

EBIT is expected to remain at a level still slightly negative (for about 700 thousand euro) but with a marked improvement over 2008 (-8 million Euro) and over the previous estimations (-1.6 million Euro).

Consolidated pre-tax income should significantly increase to almost 1.2 million euro compared to a loss of around 8 million euro in 2008.

Consolidated net profit should increase significantly up to over 1 million, improving the previous preliminary results (0.7 million) and the loss of about 11.6 million in 2008 (pro-forma).

Parent company preliminary results (Mondo TV S.p.A.)

Parent company Mondo TV SpA preliminary results for 2009 approved today provides for revenues exceeding 8.5 million euro, improving the previous estimates (7.6 million) and almost doubled if compared to 4.6 million in 2008.

EBITDA is estimated at around 3 million euro (previous estimates were 2.2 million euro) with a significant growth if compared to -847 thousand euro in 2008. EBIT should be between 800 and 900 thousand euro (previous estimates was around 200 thousand euro) compared with -6.1 million euro in the 2008 balance sheet.

Profit before taxes is estimated at around 1.3 million euro (-7.7 million in 2008), while net profits should reach about 1 million euro, in line with previous estimates, and with a strong improvement if compared to 2008 (-7.6 million euro).

Net financial position

The consolidated net financial position for 2009 is expected to remain at a negative value (debt) of approximately 5.9 million euro in strong improvement compared to -27 million euro in 2008. Parent company net debt should be approximately 4.6 million (1.7 million in 2008).

MONDO TV GROUP PRESS RELEASE: the successful cartoon serie "Angel's Friends" becomes a movie.

A co-production agreement has been signed with Play Entertainment and Starbright.

The film will be ready by autumn 2010.

Mondo TV Group - leading player in Italy and abroad in the production and distribution of "cartoons" for TV and cinema - has signed with the companies Starbright and Play Entertainment a contract for the co-production of an animated 2D 90-minute film based on the subject of television cartoon series "Angel's Friends", which is now in programming on TV in Italy and abroad.

Angel's Friends is based on an original idea by Simona Ferri, who participates in the project both as director and as artistic director of Play Entertainment; the direction of the film is instead carried out by Orlando Corradi, president and CEO of Mondo TV.

The contract stipulates that the film’s production budget is divided into the following proportions: Mondo TV 48%; Play Entertainment 32% and Starbright 20%.

The executive production is completely entrusted to Mondo TV that will be responsible for technical, artistic and administrative activities - under the supervision of the other co-producers - and it will handle all stages of production, including development and post-production. The contract provides for the delivery of the film must be completed by autumn 2010.

The film will be broadcast, in Italian premiere, at Christmas 2010.

Mondo TV will also be responsible for the TV’s exploitation rights distribution (free, pay per view, pay TV and VOD) and home video ones throughout the world except for Italy, Vatican, San Marino, Capodistria, Malta and Italian Switzerland.

The distribution of merchandising, licensing and publishing rights are entrusted to Starbright.

More than 25 licensees including Giochi Preziosi, Nestle, Clementoni, Edibas, Modecor Italiana, Multiprint, Balocco, Dino Bikes, Calzificio Franzoni, Press Play, Giunti Editore are committed to the licensing project derived from the first Angel's Friends’ animated serie, with over 400 merchandising products under development since autumn 2009.

MONDO TV GROUP PRESS RELEASE: Agreement signed for the production of an animated TV series based on the Puppy In My Pocket® property. MEG, the original creator of the property, and Giochi Preziosi, will co-produce the show with Mondo TV.

Total budget: USD 7,3 Million

Development of a new toy line based on the show has already started. Introduction of this new toy line will occur simultaneous with the launch of the show, currently estimated for Christmas 2010.

Mondo TV Group - a leading cinema and TV cartoon production and distribution company operating in Italy and abroad – has signed an agreement to produce and distribution a television cartoon series based on the Puppy In My Pocket brand. Mondo TV will co-produce the show together with MEG and Giochi Preziosi.

MEG and Giochi Preziosi, which will also participate in the development and distribution of the new toy line.

The Puppy In My Pocket brand is a very well-known and successful brand on a worldwide basis and was originally launched in the early 1990’s. The brand as Cuccioli Cerca Amici, owned by Giochi Preziosi, has become one of the most important toy brand in Italy in the last few years.

The contract provides for the production of a cartoon series composed of 52 episodes, each of 13 minutes length, including a theme song, musical score, dialog, and all post-production work.

MEG and Giochi Preziosi will also coordinate and manage the worldwide licensing program associated with the show on the major merchandising categories such as back to school products, stationary, apparel.

The agreement envisions a total production budget of USD 7,3 million for the 52 episodes, which will be financed by the three co-producers. The agreement also specifies a continuous delivery timeline for the 52 episodes, which will be spread over the next 12 months.

The show is expected to start broadcasting in Italy and Spain over Christmas 2010, where advanced negotiations with TV broadcasters are ongoing. Broadcast in other countries worldwide are expected to phase in over Q1, Q2 and Q3 2011.
