Robin
Hood Robin Hood is the heir to the title
of the noble family of Huntington. After Baron Alwine of Nottingham sent
his minions to burn his house, Robin is forced to flee with his trusted
cousins. Together with his accomplice Bishop Herfort, the Baron then continues
to persecute him and so Robin has no choice but to retreat into the inpenetrable
forest of Sherwood where a band of outlaws, led by Little John, is operating. |

Marian
Marian belongs by birth to the house of Lancaster.
She is noble by birth and has a noble heart; her beauty is tender and
light. Marian is a very devout girl and she would never break her word.
She appears to accept being adopted by Bishop Herfort, but submits to
save her house, even though her heart belongs to her unconquered Robin. |
|
Wilfred
All we know is that he is Robin’s friend. Level-headed,
he often convinces Robin to wait for more favourable conditions, for when
Robin sees an injustice done, he seldom thinks before springing into action.
He is a thin man and a faithful friend to be counted on in any situation.
Will follows Robin and is someone who is always present- he doesn't
seem like anyone too special at a glance, but he is infact vital to Robin,
for life without him would prove most difficult. |
|
Barbara
Barbara is Wilfred’s younger sister and, like him, is a close witness to Robin’s adventures.
She is an intelligent, lively girl who is always ready to say what she
thinks, like many children who only follow what they feel. The
quality of listening to instinct gives her a halo of purity. |
|
| Winifred is frail, thin and full of dreams, and is
Barbara’s older sister. She is one of those sisters who needs her
family around, and even if her family just happens to be somewhere else
at the moment, the very idea that someone likes her is enough for her. |

Alwine is the Baron of Nottingham, the local lord,
and the one who taxes the serfs, forcing them to work on his land. Baron
Alwine has sacrificed everything for the sake of power and forgotten everything
which does not belong to this mad, uncontrolled desire. |
|
|
Herfort is the Bishop of Nottingham, and using his
position, he collects money for himself. He is avid and greedy and
his only principle is to satisfy his unquenchable appetite. |
|
|
"Big" Little John lives in the forest of
Sherwood he represents its uncontaminated spirit. Only Robin can best
him and demonstrate that the strength of the forest must be directed and
understood. Little John accompanies Robin in this adventure, and at Robin’s
side, proves invincible. |
|
| Much Much is Little John’s lieutenant- his silly sidekick, he is the witty and untroubled companion of Sherwood forest. Stealing from the riches and giving to the poor is nothing but a game for him. His reality is made up day-by-day, inventing the life he likes to live. |
|
|
Friar Tuck lives on the edge of Sherwood forest and represents the typical hermit often found during the medieval period. He has a profound knowledge of the classics, and experiments with dangerous subjects. |
|
|
Gilbert is a knight who could never betray his word- his goal is justice, his life is honour, and his ideal is perfection. In summary, this is Gilbert, aside from his unconditional loyalty to the Bishop Herfort and Baron Alwine. |
|
|
Richard I of England has become an ideal King, so in our story he becomes the King who frees the land of injustice, prejudice, and unjust imprisonment- for he himself was imprisoned for two years while returning from the third crusade. |
|
|
Sherwood is the local forest and a magic place where any fantasy can become reality- a haven where all those who refuse to submit to unjust rules take refuge. |
|
|
The Merry Band lives in Sherwood Forrest and are the
guardians and the protectors of those who seek refuge there. Before
Robin Hood, the leader of the gang was Little John Little, who defended
his supremacy by challenging anybody who wanted to become King of
the forest to a traditional contest. |
