CHARACTERS

Ulee– the naive ball of energy

Ulee is the youngest and the "Sunny Boy" of the Nimbols. Naive, curious, and full of energy, he is the initiator and is almost always the cause of all the adventures.

When others brag about their "older brother," he brags back about his older sister Neema.

Only when things get really hot does he lose all his courage and start crying. Ulee is naive, optimistic, sporty, charming and knows how to take advantage of the fact that he is the youngest.

Ulee is always on the go. The minute no one is looking, he is off and away. He loves to discover, explore and investigate. His rocket-powered skateboard is a part of him – either the board is carrying Ulee or Ulee is carrying the board. The two of them are a real team when it comes to having fun and exploring Traffix.

What else?

Ulee is a computer game junkie who can sit for hours in front of the screen in the game simulator. He can therefore win races, shoot down aliens, or conquer strange worlds. Sometimes he doesn’t notice that he mixes the real world and computer world in his mind. Then life in his normal surroundings is like a computer game for Ulee. Accordingly, he fears nothing and never avoids anything, even though it could be dangerous (“it is just a computer game“, which again and again leads him and the other Nimbols into difficult situations. When he realizes what he has done, he starts to cry and expects others to come to his rescue (especially his big sister Neema).

BLIP – the cool inventor

Blip is just cool and extremely casual in everything he does. He never flips out. Blip loves to experiment and is enthusiastic about everything technical. As an orphan, robots ‘lovingly” raised him. He constantly invents new electronic equipment.

Blip hates compliments and has no sense for silly "girly things.” When Neema or Oona flirt with him, he reacts by being embarrassed, starts to stutter, and turns red. He also gets short of breath (just like when he takes part in sports). He overcomes this with a spray against asthma. As soon as relief sets in, his rosy complexion returns to normal.

Neema and Oona worship him; in fact Oona admires his technical understanding, while Neema admires his his cool manner.

What else?

Blip remains cool and unimpressed, even in extremely critical situations. In order to solve problems, he is always looking for a technical solution or simply invents something. At such times Blip has a strange habit: To help him conceive new ideas, he stretches his head into an oblong shape like a rubber band using his hands, and then lets it snap back into its original shape. Blip thinks that this shaking up stimulates his brain cells. Lastly, Blip habitually cracks his fingers (an extremely unpleasant sound) whenever he comes up with a new idea.

NEEMA – the impulsive idealist

Neema is passionate, impulsive and attractive. She wants to improve the world – now, not tomorrow. She is dedicated to everything and everybody. Warm-hearted, she tries everything to get the other Nimbols to listen to her ideas, but most of the time she is not successful. She loses courage and becomes depressed if one of her ideas or projects gets shot down. If danger looms on the horizon, she grows spirited and pragmatic.

Blip is the man of her dreams, which doesn’t please Oona. Neema thinks her brother Ulee is embarrassing, but should anyone dare to tease him, they’d better watch out! Neema is very active. When she is not searching for her brother, she meets with friends or takes an active part in a demonstration. One day she feels like she can save the world on her own, and the next she is terribly depressed, often complaining not about the world, but about her new pimple.

What else?

Neema is the so-called ‘normal’ Nimbol. One moment she’s a bundle of joy, the next moment she’s terribly depressed due to whatever setback. She has the ability to direct such moods into positive energy; and if necessary, dedicates herself to whatever the problem may be.

Neema is the one who can identify and assess problems.
Blip stands her by, but has to be constantly pushed into action.

When she is in a bad mood, it is Benedikt who offers her help and advice. Her younger brother, Ulee, comforts her during such occasions.

Oona – the intellectual know-all

Oona is the exact opposite of Neema. Not terribly pretty, she is super intelligent. Because of her analytical mind and aptitude for formulating theories, she basically considers daily life to be a problem.

The other Nimbols consider Oona to be precocious, a wisecrack, and a nasty telltale, since she cannot resist reporting things to Benedikt.

Oona is helpless in situations where action— not reflection— is required. She reacts hysterically under such circumstances.

What else?

Oona becomes easily nervous during tricky situations. Her analytical solutions are then difficult to comprehend, especially when she presents them in her hectic manner. Whenever her nerves can no longer cope with the situation, she lets out a painful scream. She is then quiet and fearful, and complies with all decisions made by the other group members on how to handle the problem at hand.

Urp– the dumb strongman

Urp’s outstanding feature is his strength. He is a charged, compact bundle of strength, with zero social skills and is a total egotist. He finds his appearance extremely good-looking.

All his strength lies in his muscles and not his brain; he is the strongest as well as the dumbest of the team. Urp lets himself be used, especially by Blip and Ulee.

Urp tries to master life through his strength. Since this doesn’t always work, you can sometimes see Urp running away scared.

What else?

Urp plays the part of the strong macho, and despite his small vocabulary, he knows how to express himself. Though he is stupid, he tries to make up for his lack of wit through his confident manner. His ability to solve conflicts is limited to strong slogans and his muscular, strong body. If this manner is not successful, he gets scared and then subdued (of course he’ll later deny having been frightened).

Urp flirts with Neema (and if necessary also with Oona), but is regularly rejected.

Urp says Blip is a softy, not a real man, although Urp knows that Blip is superior to him.

Like many people with a characteristic such as Urp’s, he is on a constant look-out for someone that he can control. For the same reason, he wants to train Arfle to be his police dog, which Neema is always able to prevent.

The coach...

Benedikt– the confused pedant

Benedikt is a robot and serves as our Nimbols’ coach. He wishes only the best for his students, which is why he is a bit pedantic. His advice is categorized by the Nimbols as outdated, a bit unworldly, and not very practical. The Nimbols respect him, because they prefer old Benedikt with his oddities as one who is ambitious and dynamic.

What else?

Benedikt is very reasonable and takes living according to rules and regulations for granted. He feels it is his responsibility to strongly convey such things to the Nimbols, even if they are not terribly interested. Benedikt realizes there is more to safety than just rigidly following rules. Benedikt’s mobility is a bit restrained since he almost never leaves the academy grounds. Because of his integrated anti-gravity power, he can dash to every part of the academy within seconds; he could suddenly turn up in any corner.

The animal...

Arfle– the anarchist gourmet

Arfle is 100 percent emotion, not controllable, and solely favors culinary pleasures. His daily routine consists of eating and sleeping. While sleeping, he loves to dream about food. Arfle loves to emit stinky farts, to the Nimbols’ displeasure. On the other hand, he sometimes can overcome his enemies with this ability of his.

Supporting characters...

Hari– the romantic

Hari is the oldest taxi on Traffix. You can always hear a rough blues song blasting out of his radiator. Nothing can ruin his cool. Hari stands above everything. He loves to talk a lot because he has already experienced so much in his life. Almost everyone on Traffix knows him.

Okay, sometimes he tells his stories two or three times, however this actually makes him more appealing.

Door– the cynic

Door is the main entrance door to the Space Academy. His duty is to automatically open and close. In order to compensate for his menial tasks, he feels it necessary to act up and appear important. Still, though Door cannot change his job, he can gossip and sneer about others behind their backs.

Traffic Cop– the law

Traffic Cop is a grumpy police robot. Night and day he is always on the lookout for an offender, however minor the offense may be. He is so ambitious that he tends to exaggerate and overreact. In contrast to Benedikt, only the regulations are important to Traffic Cop, not why they exist.

Slick– the arrogant loudmouth

Slick attends the class parallel to our Nimbols at the academy. He is 13 years old and the kind of teenager one both admires and dislikes at the same time. He looks good, his clothing is cool, and he acts self-confident. He thinks he is irresistible, and makes no secret about it. He is convinced about his effect on the girls of the academy, and he certainly lets his classmates know how he thinks they are still just kids. He is in love with himself and adopts unfair means whenever possible to gain personal advantage from it. He and his friends Glick, Blick and Eye take advantage of every situation to make their classmates’ lives difficult.

Blick– the follower

Blick is Slick’s best friend, and he spends nearly his entire free time together with the gang. He is 12-years-old and also attends a class parallel to our Nimbols at the academy. Especially when together with Slick, there is nearly nothing left of what could be called good behavior and it seems as if he would copy all of Slick’s bad habits. He is not a front man and during turbulent situations he prefers to stay in the background and to wait what will happen. When together with his gang, he feels strong and self-confident, especially shows through when he is talking. When one meets Blick on his own, he reacts totally different and seems to loose his self-assurance. Only then do we see his kinder side.

Glick– the complainer

Glick is the girl in Slick’s gang. She hangs around with Blick, Eye and Slick himself. She is 13-years-old, and very convinced about herself and her looks. She is cool and only interested in herself. She has got only one best friend – herself. She wants to become a model and already sees herself on the front pages of all the magazines of Traffix. She thinks learning is useless and that she is wasting her time in the academy. Glick is clever, and she knows how to get the boys to do what she wants. Afterwards she leaves them “out in the rain” without saying thank you.

Eye
– the opportunist

Eye is 10 years old. He sees himself as a member of the cool gang, and does everything to impress Glick, Blick and especially Slick. However, he is in fact the lowly assistant, and everybody uses him to do the unpleasant things. Eye is submissive and does everything they ask of him. He is not very intelligent, but fortunately he doesn’t realize this himself.

The Cyborgs

The Cyborgs live in a world underneath the surface of Traffix. Their nasty appearence is exceeded only by their nasty character. They lie, steal, and don’t care about law and order at all. They are nasty crooks and are not afraid even of Traffic Cop… At least not when they appear as a group. They are not very intelligent, but rather crafty and are responsible for a couple chaotic situations on Traffix. The Nimbols are afraid of the Cyborgs and try to avoid them.
