CHARACTERS

Farhat

Farhat is a prince in an imaginary, modern day country in the Arabic peninsula. He is 16-years-old and rather handsome, with a lean physique and long, raven-black hair. He’d been a bit of a rascal since he was a young boy, but in such a way that no one in the palace could really resist him. At 11-years-old, he began his formal education entailing 4 years’ study at Oxford. Farhat then learned to suppress his rebellious nature, and in time become generous, courageous, impulsive, and touchy, yet incapable of holding a grudge, imparting the likeable impression of an impertinent Arab boy that expresses himself as a compunctious English lord.

Farhat lives out his mission to save the world in a dazzling adventure. He is the link between legend, magic, and reality, and the only one who is able to recognise the Sahariman and Egokhan, who have occupied his dreams since he was a little child.

Farhat’s Shadow

Sometimes friend, sometimes foe, the shadow serves as Farhat’s “dark” alter ego. Spiteful and elusive, the shadow is often an obstacle for the young prince, who must force himself to tame it, as though trying to hold back the darkest part of his own self. During the moment in which Farhat thinks he’s got the better of his shadow, it then reveals itself as a valuable ally, especially in retrieving the scattered pieces of the Shariman.

The shadow’s power lies in its ability to lengthen itself, shrink itself, change its form, and when tamed, even help Farhat to get himself out of the most difficult situations.

Tilda

At the age of 15, the prodigal Tilda is the most intelligent and scholarly girl in all of England. Her specialties lie in archaeology, glottology, history, and especially astronomy. She attends Oxford. When she decides to align herself with Farhat’s group, the academic and political English institutions decide to dispatch a certain secret agent in order to ensure that their “pupil” is under control. The only one to approve Tilda’s break away is Nigel Swanson, the girl’s father who works as a miner. Tilda hates the language of Oxford, and shows off speaking in jive as a sharp contrast with her knowledge of the so-called “extinct” tongues.

Honest to a fault, she is enamoured with Farhat, yet doesn’t realise it. She loves koalas so much that her laptop computer has the form of a koala teddy.

Egokhan

A demon from before the great flood, he is villainous and super-evil, with the physical appearance of an ancient Mesopotamian God. Without feet, he floats through the air, emitting whirls of vapour inside himself. This ancient, demonic wraith has awakened from a 1000-year slumber, emerging to conquer the world. His main obstacle is the Shariman, which could influence his permanent disappearance from the world, if reassembled by Farhat. Should he manage to eliminate Farhat, however, there would be no other representative of the force of good with the power to stop him. Egokhan is able to control all the natural elements, and has moreover, the power to summon myths, legends, and to invoke some of the most evil events. He manifests in nightmares and fear, putting up with Rashid, because he needs him in order to serve as an intermediary with the human world.

Rashid

The advisor of Yassir, he is the boss of Petroglobe, greedy, cool, calculating, and extremely ambitious. Though under the control of those who are strong, he is merciless towards the week. He is tenacious and very superstitious.

Convinced he is the wickedest man in the world, he gets comically frustrated when confronted with the wickedness of Egokhan.

Nigel Swanson

He is the affectionate and protective father of Tilda. He works as a miner in Straffordshire.

Ben

Ben is about 35-years-old, and is the equivalent of an Arab butler. He is a fatalist and traditionalist. Though unsuspecting (indolent) in appearance, he is in fact quite efficient, serving as the team’s “logistic support.” He’s able to remedy anything, anyplace. He’s an excellent cook.

Miss Keyhole

The authoritarian secretary assigned to Tilda by the director of Oxford, Miss Keyhole hides a secret identity: she is in fact a spy charged with checking up on Tilda’s operations.

Alì

Alì is a desert scorpion, but unlike other true scorpions, he has a definite head. His entire body has the form of a natural suit of armour. He was raised and “etherified” by Al-Saied, an alchemist from the 12th century, to guard the secret of the Shariman and deliver it to the chosen one. Alì is versed in magic herbs, and expresses himself in a rather “antiquated” language. He creates potions suited to whatever the situation, chewing herbs and drinking mysterious brews that blend together, building up in his stinger at the tip of his tail.
